Prospérité has developed into one of the top barges in France, under strategic leadership of Captain Spencer Hayes. Debuting in 2003, Prosperité was created by a hands-on American hotelier and represents a successful new approach, which combines the best features of relaxed, contemporary lifestyle with every luxury in traditional, ultra-deluxe barging. Original ideas such as the demonstration kitchen where guests may watch and interact informally with the chef at work and the “open refrigerator” with drinks, snacks and desserts available twenty four hours a day, reflect modern living and entertaining in which everyone congregates in the kitchen.

Burgundy - the very name conjures up visions of grapes ripening under the warm August sun and luscious red wine. Even in a nation known for its devotion to fine cuisine, Burgundy stands apart for its outstanding food and drink. While best-known for its outstanding eponymous red wine, the province is also home to a number of other fine wine appellations -- Chablis, Cote-de-Nuits, Hautes Côtes, to name just a few -- as well as more than 32 fine restaurants bearing Michelin stars, including four 3-star establishments. Some 150 vineyards, cellars and wine traders in the region are open for sampling their delicious wares.
Highlights:
Visit the 16th century chateau at Ancy-le-Franc, one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in Burgundy.
Excursion to Chablis, whose vineyards date back to Roman times.
Visiting Medieval port city of Auxerre.
Tour the Forges de Buffon, home and garden of Georges-Louis de Buffon, an 18th century naturalist, mathematician, and biologist.
Cruise to Pouillenay is followed by a visit to the 12th century Abbaye de Fontenay, founded by Saint Bernard.
Prospérité
has a great crew of 5, who love to go the extra
mile to accommodate their guests with every
need.
As one of the guests reported: “ I will never forget this wonderful trip… this wonderful crew, who took care of me as Queens of England …From the first time they greeted us as we boarded the barge, I could tell that they were much more friendly than I would expect.”
Cedric is an enthusiastic, good-natured kind of guy that would have been elected “Best All-Around” in high school. He is the perfect blend of good looks, friendliness and fun.
He always has a smile on his face and always a tremendous help to the all the group.
Natalie is more reserved, but incredibly creative, talented and devoted to the guests. She is very hardworking and gifted with making the barge beautiful.
Emma is a very
enthusiastic and energetic person with great
sense of humor and lots of fun. Emma is always
ready to help or share a story or a joke.
Jane is a wonderful,
divine Chef, who loves to prepare unique and
exclusive meals and create unforgettable dining
experiences.
And of
course the Captain, Spencer Hayes, is not only
a wonderful captain but a great tour guide too,
with a lot of experience and patience.
