Upper Loire & Canal de Briare are situated 100 km South of Paris. The canal joins the Seine River to the Loire River and crosses Burgundy to join the Loire. Hilly countryside, beautiful forests and picturesque villages. This region is known as " the Garden of France ".

Very rich, it is the Valley of the Kings, famous for its numerous Chateaux, but troubled past due to the religious wars and its border in the Middle Age between Burgundy allied to the English & Ile de France.

The cuisine is of the finest quality, relying on fresh local produce and regional specialties.

Highlights:

. Chateau de Fontainebleau, famous palace where the French kings used to hunt.

. The villages of Barbizon and Moret Sur Loire, where impressionists once lived and realized their paintings.

. Rogny-Les-Sept-Ecluses , the ancient "staircase" of 7 locks, which stands as a monument to the old canal.

. The world famous wine region of Sancerre with the opportunity to sample the local wine.

. The impressive Briare Aqueduct , built by Mr. Eiffel of Eiffel Tower, Paris fame.

. The pretty town of Gien on the banks of the River Loire with visit of the Chateau of Gien.
