Le Phenicien is a luxury floating
hotel. Passengers join a small number of guests - maximum
18 - for gentle luxury barge cruises along the Rhone,
from the Avignon area to Aigues-Mortes in the Camargue.
The vessel navigates the river for three to four hours
per day, docking at riverside towns and villages for
organized excursions and free time.
There are 9 cabins onboard Le Phenicien, all located on the lower deck of the barge.
3 cabins are queen-bedded and 6 are twin-bedded which can be set as king-bedded on request.
Each cabin is furbished with colorful Provence-style
fabrics and are generously proportioned, each
with en suite private bathroom.
Salon & Dining Room:
The
beautifully serene, light and spacious interior
has mature palm plants in huge urns giving the
open-plan saloon/dining room/bar area a feeling
of classical elegance.
The 1000-foot salon offers plenty of comfortable
seating along with a dining area, all with large
picture windows. While cruising, you can have
a drink at the bar or take a comfortable seat
at the lounges and relax with friends, play chess,
read a book, listen to music, do nothing else
but enjoy the sight through the large windows.
On Deck:
The sundeck at the front of the boat is a great place to relax and watch the scenery glide by. On the deck guests can enjoy very comfortable furniture, umbrellas that can create the shade in a hot summer day.
Off Boat:
Private van with seating for 18-passengers for excursions, and a larger bus for transfers are provided by Le Phenicien. There are 4 men's and 4 women's adult bicycles available for guests. Guests can always bike in a round trip from the barge when she is stationary (maps are available on board) or they may bike by the barge on the tow-path on some parts of our canal itinerary.
The 18-passenger Le Phenicien,
combines the best of the Provence region -- cruising
between Avignon and Aigues-Mortes - with tranquil
cruising on the Rhône-Sete canal amidst
the marvelous natural beauty of the Camargue region.
Le Phenicien's
unique route allows it to meander through the
Provence and the Languedoc-Roussillon regions,
with thousands of years of culture, world-renowned
wines, gastronomic food, glorious weather, and
in surroundings of unspoiled nature.
Highlights:
Visiting cellars of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Exploring charming medieval village of Les Baux de Provence.
Tour of Avignon.
Visiting Aigues-Mortes , a 14th century walled city rising from a flat landscape from which St Louis set sail on his Holly Crusades.
Le Phenicien is a true French family operation, designed and operated by the Joly family since 2000. The caring and dedicated crew of 5 includes:
Bertrand has worked in some of the most luxurious hotels in Paris . He is responsible for the crew who will attend to your every need and ensure your comfort on board.
Claudette had been in the restaurant business for 10 years before we started this venture and used to work as a professional decorator before. She is responsible for everything that looks nice or smells good on the boat!
Michel, with over 35 years of experience in the filed of design and manufacturing, has designed and built
Le Phenicien. Today, he is the one looking after the boat and is responsible for her maintenance.
Marc has worked mainly in the information technology and marketing fields. He is our privileged contact for all the marketing and commercial issues related to the cruises.
Thierry , the talented on-board French Chef, may not be a member of the Joly family, but he is definitely a member of the Phenicien family from the very first cruise.
The passengers onboard Le Phenicien appreciate his culinary skills as much as they enjoy his joyful personality.
