The name La Reine Pedauque comes from a very old French legend; When translated into English it means "The goose footed queen". The story says that the Queen had webbed feet, she would keep a goose beside her, and so the loyal subjects would mistake her feet for those of the goose.

Originally the barge was built in 1923, the 128 foot La Reine Pedauque has been renovated and converted into a luxury hotel barge and offers weekly cruise vacations on the Burgundy canal.

Cabins:

La Reine Pedauque has four cabins, all of which are suites with either twin or queen sized beds, private bathrooms, opening portholes, bureau and chair, plenty of cupboard space. The barge carries no more than 8 passengers and is available for individuals or charters of 6 to 8 people.

There are two Royal Suites, both identical in size, decorated with taste and the desire to offer space, comfort and light. Guests will also have a HD flat screen TV and DVD player. There are opening portholes, plenty of cupboard space, twin or double beds. Arm chairs and table for writing letters and the quite moments for reading. The independent air-conditioning unit allows you to control the temperature for your own comfort.
Partial view of the bathroom. The en-suite private bathroom has hair dryer, towels, shampoo and shower gel.

The Ambassador Suite is spacious with twin or double beds, a private bathroom, large cupboards, four opening portholes and the same amenities as the Royal Suite. The wood panel finishing adds a nostalgic touch of elegances.

The Commodore Suite is slightly smaller than the other three suites, but is designed to give the maximum comfort and space with two beds, which can be in twin or double, a private bathroom with shower, WC, as well as opening portholes and individual air-conditioning.

Salon & Dining Room:

The upper deck has a large saloon with leather sofas, library, music centre and stylish decoration. The large windows allow a perfect view of the countryside and the air-conditioning adds to your comfort. On the upper deck guests can enjoy an elegant dining room. Carefully polished hardwoods give the La Reine Pedauque an air of luxury whilst still retaining a very ‘boaty' feel.

On Deck:

Guests especially enjoy a very spacious sun deck with comfortable furniture and tables with umbrellas.

Off Boat:
Bicycles are always available for those who wish to explore the surrounding countryside and villages. Daily excursions by private mini-van are also planned for those who would like to discover the local historical sites.

You will travel at the most relaxing pace, passing slowly through small French villages such as Saint Mairie sur Ouche, where the bread is still made in wood fired ovens.

One of the barge's moorings is beside a very typical French cafe, an ideal place to taste some of the local wine and watch the villagers cross the Roman bridge to join you for an aperitif.

It takes little effort to adjust to this way of life, walking along shaded tow paths, the white charolais cattle grazing in deep green pasture, each turn of the canal will open a wonderful view to other villages, old feudal chateaux, distant farms.

  • You will have a complete insight into the fascinating Burgundy art of wine making, with an excursion into the vineyards and wine producers of the Cote de Beaune.
  • Visit to Chateauneuf en Auxois, lunch at Volnay in the wine cellar.
  • 11 th Century Cistercian abbey at
    La Bussiere.
  • Shopping in the Rue de la Liberte or the street markets of Dijon.
  • Exploring enchanting village of Pont de Pany and Chateau la Chassagne.

Gourmet meals are carefully prepared by your French Chef and served in a spacious dining area, with some of the greatest wines from Burgundy to accompany the delicious dishes.
