Prospérité has developed into one of the top barges in France, under strategic leadership of Captain Spencer Hayes.  Debuting in 2003, Prosperité was created by a hands-on American hotelier and represents a successful new approach, which combines the best features of relaxed, contemporary lifestyle with every luxury in traditional, ultra-deluxe barging.  Original ideas such as the demonstration kitchen where guests may watch and interact informally with the chef at work and the “open refrigerator” with drinks, snacks and desserts available twenty four hours a day, reflect modern living and entertaining in which everyone congregates in the kitchen.

CABINS:

There are four (4) suites on board Prospérité that occupy a majority of the Lower Deck. These suites are some of the largest rooms guests will find on board a hotel barge in France, and have the highest level of amenities.

Each luxurious suite is elegantly decorated with beautiful contemporary furniture and has comfortable beds dressed in fine linens. There is a cozy reading nook with plush armchairs, and a writing desk for composing letters or postcards about trip experiences.

A console table topped with a flourishing bouquet of brilliant flowers welcomes each guest upon entering.

CABIN SIZE:

The suites on board Prospérité provide approximately 270 square-feet of space, privacy, and comfort. Whether enjoying a book in the reading corner, or taking a nice warm bath, guests will find plenty of room to freely move about their quarters.

BEDDING CONFIGURATION & SIZE:

Electronically adjustable oversized twin or king beds outfit each suite. When the suites are in twin bed configuration, the beds will be parallel with a space in between each.

BATHROOMS:

The luxury of each suite is further heightened by a private en suite bathroom. The en suite bathroom has a bathtub, separate shower, toilet, and wash basin. The presence of heated towel racks are a nice touch for particularly cold weather.

AMENITIES:

  • Climate Control
  • Hairdryer
  • Built-in Closet
  • Heated Towel Racks
  • Electricity (220V, French two pin plugs)

SALON/DINING ROOM:

The Salon decor pairs Italian leather couches with French accent pieces and other beautiful touches. Along with the separate Dining Room, the Salon is very bright and spacious with beautiful panoramic windows, which provide a good view of the outside countryside while cruising.

The Dining Room has a table seating eight (8), decorated in elegant, contemporary style, and is the perfect place to enjoy the chef-prepared gourmet dinners.

OBSERVATION KITCHEN:

The Dining Room also boasts a fully equipped demonstration kitchen where the chef gives planned and impromptu demonstrations in French and Continental cuisine during the cruise.

ON DECK:

A spacious Sun Deck with hot tub is a glorious way to experience the passing scenery on the beautiful Burgundy waterways.

With deck chairs and tables, sun-umbrellas providing shade, and open bar available around the clock, guests can spend much time here relaxing or partying together.

Guests are also welcome to join the Captain to observe cruising techniques and procedures while going through the locks.

OFF BOAT:

Passengers are welcome to walk or cycle using the onboard bicycles as often as they like.  Most People choose to disembark the barge at a lock to visit local villages, then return to the canal and meet the barge further along (the barge travels slowly; therefore, this is not a problem). Bikes are always onboard and ready to go for casual rides along the towpath or into the countryside.

A 9-seater air-conditioned minivan is also avalable for transfers and shore excursions.

Prosperite Itinerary Prosperite Itinerary Prosperite Itinerary

The luxurious 8-passenger barge Prospérité takes her guests on a magical adventure, cruising the Canal de Bourgogne through countrysides of great beauty and into the heart of unspoiled medieval villages and charming vibrant towns.

Burgundy - the very name conjures up visions of grapes ripening under the warm August sun and luscious red wine. Even in a nation known for its devotion to fine cuisine, Burgundy stands apart for its outstanding food and drink. While best-known for its outstanding eponymous red wine, the province is also home to a number of other fine wine appellations -- Chablis, Cote-de-Nuits, Hautes Côtes, to name just a few -- as well as more than 32 fine restaurants bearing Michelin stars, including four 3-star establishments. Some 150 vineyards, cellars and wine traders in the region are open for sampling their delicious wares.

Prospérité has a great crew of 5 who love to go the extra mile to accommodate their guests with every need.

Under the low-key, but strategic, leadership of veteran Captain Spencer Hayes, Prospérité's staff is attentive and willing to serve both his requests and those of the passengers.  They are there to ensure that each guest has the most memorable, positive experience on board this luxurious barge.  From preparing masterful culinary delicacies to sharing the inspiring charm of Burgundy's provincial towns and vineyards, this crew will make a trip through France's most famous wine region the vacation of a lifetime.
