SALON/DINING ROOM:

The Salon/Dining Room is where most meals will take place. It has a large, open floor plan with a dining table and wrap-around seating for six (6). The well-stocked bar is available 24 hours a day.

With varnished solid hardwood throughout and marble and granite countertops, the Salon professes its elegance with understatement in this intimate vessel's interior.

WHEELHOUSE:

The Wheelhouse boasts very comfortable seating for 8 people arranged around a circular hand-crafted table with leather inlay, teak flooring, and stereo with CD changer

The Wheelhouse roof is specially constructed to allow the sides to fold down while leaving the rooftop in place to provide shade (the roof is also removable if required).

OFF BOAT:

Passengers are welcome to walk or cycle using the onboard bicycles as often as they like.  Most People choose to disembark the barge at a lock to visit local villages, then return to the canal and meet the barge further along (the barge travels slowly; therefore, this is not a problem).  Elevated above the Salon, it makes for a unique, charming place to pass the time or share a meal while on board.

An air-conditioned vehicle is also available for transfers and shore excursions.

A voyage of discovery...

The beautiful hills and valleys of Burgundy have been famous for wine production for millennia. It has always been a wealthy and important region fought over by empires and kingdoms since Roman times. During a river cruise, you will witness the very best Burgundy has to offer. Through water meadows with grazing cattle and unspoiled villages, to bustling market towns with magnificent cathedrals, lively cafés, bars, and restaurants.

Travelling waterways along tree lined canals and rivers is the ideal way to see France. Our aim is to achieve a balance that suits you in all aspects of your voyage.

Randle offers a number of journeys based on themes of romance, discovery, and cuisine. Each voyage has been carefully selected to make the most of your experience; however, as Randle only operates by private charter, you are free to amend schedules to suit your very own requirements, or even take a voyage of your very own making. Please contact us for assistance.

Vineyards of Burgundy; tour some of the most famous vineyards in the world, what could be nicer than as gentle walk through the terriors of Chassagne Montrachet, Chevaliers and les Charmes followed by a drive through the villages of Mersault, Volney, and Pommard.

Burgundy; at the heart of the natural beauty of this fascinating cruising area are the golden slopes of the Cote d’Or. It has always been a wealthy and important region fought over by empires and kingdoms since Roman times, As the Cistercian order was founded here, there are many abbeys, churches, chateaux, and palaces to visit.

Dijon; ancient home of the Duke of Burgundy, boasts 6 museums, including the Musee des Beaux-Arts and the Musee d’Art Sacre. The picturesque centre of the old town with the colourful Burgundian /Flemish tiled roofs and half timbered houses features the largest indoor market in Burgundy and the famous mustard shop.

Tim Harrold

Tim Harrold has been the owner of Randle since early 2007, and has spent the 2007 season cruising and entertaining guests aboard in the Burgundy region.

He is also a boat builder and designer with a passion for classic design and style.  When not cruising aboard Randle, he spends his time restoring old buildings.  There are many in the region, from ancient castles and Art Nouveau to unspoiled villages and grand chateaux. One of the best aspects, he claims, is living on French food and wine!

The host, Lynda, is an organic horticulturalist  and an excellent cook, preparing  fantastic meals from fresh, produce purchased at local organic markets wherever possible. She takes great pride in keeping Randle immaculate and pampering the guests as if it was her vacation.

Restaurant Gourmet Cuisine Restaurant

Guests arriving onboard The Randle are welcomed with the Captain's Champagne Reception, and for your convenience the bar remains available at your behest. Throughout the journey you will enjoy wines of the region including artisan wines from the very vineyards and villages we pass each day.

Continental breakfast, fresh fruit, yogurts, croissants, tea and coffee are served aboard in the mornings.

Delicious light lunches are prepared and served aboard, or taken as a picnic ashore depending on location and weather.

Burgundy is renowned for the quality of its food. Aboard The Randle we facilitate excursions to the very best of the local restaurants ranging from Michelin starred to bistro cafés; all with their special and individual charm and friendly atmosphere.

Whether your wish to dine gourmet style or something more casual we are sure that we will be able to accommodate your tastes, and dietary requirements. Several restaurants have their own private moorings and welcome arrivals by water.

Lovers of French food will enjoy the region's specialities; cheese, Charolais beef, mustard sauces, blackcurrants and escargot. Visit the markets and boutique shops, delight in wine tasting, tour the vineyards and try out recipes such as Boeuf Bourguignon and Gougéres.

Explore the chocolatiers, épiceries, pâtisseries and fromageries where the recipes have been handed down through generations. The Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape gives Burgundy wines their exquisite and evocative nose and flavour.

All evening meals are taken ashore at excellent local restaurants dotted along the route, or by excursion to other towns and villages in the surrounding area, but are not included in the charter price
