This 5-star Hotel-Barge is exploring the fascinating and ever-changing Upper Loire/Western Burgundy region, where she can cruise in tandem with her sister ship Le Bon Vivant to accommodate up to 16 guests.

La Bonne Amieis designed in refine & elegant contemporary style with attention to details: fine linen, china, crystal & silverware, furniture, flowers & fine arts.

Cabins:

La Bonne Amie has four spacious staterooms (280 square feet each) comprising most of the lower deck. Each beautiful, individually decorated bedroom is furnished with table and chairs, your choice of oversize twin or king-size bed, closet space, a CD sound system, individual climate control, and a large bathroom with twin wash basins and a roomy shower.

Salon & Dining Room:

The salon is equipped with a CD sound system, a library of current books, up-to-date magazines and periodicals, and an intimate bar stocked to oblige your every fancy. Fresh flowers are always a part of your surroundings. The dinning area is very nicely furnished and decorated with special touch and elegance, lovely table linens, fine china, crystal and silverware to create a wonderful dining experience for the guests.

 

 

On Deck:

A sunning area and an immaculate sunken hot tub are on the main deck for your outdoor relaxation and pleasure.

Guests especially enjoy the upper deck for sunbathing, the covered terrace with its majestic granite table & lazy suzy, the semi circular indoor/outdoor bar.

Off Boat:

Air-conditioned Mercedes minivan with seating for 8 is available for the guests during excursions and transfers. Also 8 mountain bicycles, children's bicycle and baby bicycle seat for family charters are generously provided by the barge to the guests.

   

La Bonne Amiecruises an area where not too many tourists and other barges go Upper Loire & Canal de Briare are situated 100 km South of Paris. The canal joins the Seine River to the Loire River and crosses Burgundy to join the Loire. Hilly countryside, beautiful forests and picturesque villages. This region is known as "the Garden of France".

Very rich, it is the Valley of the Kings, famous for its numerous Chateaux, but troubled past due to the religious wars and its border in the Middle Age between Burgundy allied to the English & Ile de France.

  • Chateau de Fontainebleau, famous palace where the French kings used to hunt.
  • The villages of Barbizon and Moret Sur Loire, where impressionists once lived and realized their paintings.
  • Rogny-Les-Sept-Ecluses, the ancient "staircase" of 7 locks, which stands as a monument to the old canal.
  • The world famous wine region of Sancerre with the opportunity to sample the local wine.
  • The impressive Briare Aqueduct, built by Mr. Eiffel of Eiffel Tower, Paris fame.
  • The pretty town of Gien on the banks of the River Loire with visit of the Chateau of Gien.
